Cyclist Education
OBF sponsors Cycling Savvy courses to Ohio cycling clubs and advocacy groups. Organizations may choose either the Truth & Techniques course for cyclists or the Ride Leader Course for ride leaders. Classes will be taught by Ohio Cycling Savvy instructors and is tailored for Ohio bicycle laws.
Truth & Techniques Course
This 3 hour classroom course will first show you how to prevent the most common types of crashes — even those caused by motorist errors. We use illustrations, animations and video to make it fun, engaging, and easy to understand. What makes Cycling Savvy different from any other course is our deep dive into unique strategies for mastering even the most intimidating and complicated scenarios. You will come away with a toolkit of knowledge and strategies to apply to whatever kind of riding you want to do.
Group Leader Course
This 1.5 hour classroom course will improve club rider behavior and train leaders for social rides. Objectives include:
- Clarify meaning and application of bike-specific laws
- Improve group safety
- Reduce disruptive behavior in traffic
- Enhance group leadership skills
